With unending gratitude and respect, we are remembering our friend Sam Howard who passed away earlier this month and holding close in our hearts his family, friends and those who loved him.

Among the many notable contributions he made to Nashville’s business, healthcare and civic communities throughout his remarkable life, he also played a significant role at Pathway as a member of our Board for many years. We remember him best for his absolute dedication to Pathway’s mission and the entrepreneurs we serve and the mentorship he so generously gave our team and clients.

As an accomplished entrepreneur, he partnered closely with so many of our clients over the years like Mama Turney’s, a client since 2005, who was named Tennessee Small business of the Year 2008 by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

“During Mr. Howard’s tenure on our Board, we knew we were fortunate to have someone of his stature, influence and generosity, but the passing of time has revealed just how lasting his contributions have been. We wouldn’t be where we are today, and I think many of our clients can say the same thing,” shared Clint Gwin, Pathway CEO. “There was so much to admire about Mr. Howard, including his intellectual curiosity. He diligently studied our industry, accompanied our team to industry conferences, and came to know our business and industry as well or better than anybody.”

The impact Mr. Howard left on the Nashville community will be felt for generations to come.
