Seasoned entrepreneur buys local dry cleaning shop with help of business acquisition loan

New Inglewood Cleaners & Tailoring Success StoryKevin Robertson is by definition an entrepreneur: he’s an electrical engineer who co-founded a firm, he’s a singer and drummer with his own label, and he has a Master’s in education from Belmont and has taught for many years. Throughout his career, he worked in the “tumultuous” world of pharmaceutical sales.

He’d been bringing his suits to Inglewood Cleaners for years and built a good relationship with the owners. One afternoon, the owner mentioned selling the Inglewood location to focus on their Antioch operation. Robertson saw his chance.

“I’m an entrepreneur at heart,” said Robertson. “I saw this as the opportunity to be less dependent on a larger corporation, and work for myself instead.”

After investigating traditional loans and out of state investors, Robertson pursued a $50,000 business acquisition loan from Pathway Lending. “I saw an article about Pathway in the Tennessee Tribune at the gym, and the rest is history,” said Robertson. “Pathway Lending is a group of people dedicated to seeing a business succeed – they don’t just loan the money. They get to know you and your goals and objectives, and stay the course with you.” Robertson works with Pathway Lending staff regularly, from examining costs and projections to identifying new objectives and goals.

“My advice to other entrepreneurs?  Do your homework. Make your business plan, reach out to other people in the industry for insight, and work on having two time what you think you need in terms of cash flow,” said Robertson. “All that said my business gives me financial independence and something to leave to my family and the community.”
